UPDATED: Here is a legal copy of the Colbert video. Enjoy y’all.

Tim

————————–

Hey you all. I just wanted to pop by with a weekend movie break… Sorry for missing the movie last night – was playing poker with the guys – I wasn’t the first one out!! (OK, I was third…)

I know he’s sometimes crude, rude, obnoxious, self-righteous, and let’s not forget full of ‘truthiness’. Ladies and Gentlemen, I proudly present Steven Colbert’s debut on Bogopolis.com in “Steven Colbert goes to Washington”

Enjoy.

Someone didn’t get the memo

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

I’m watching a television show right now, Sherman’s March, on the History Channel. I was watching a commercial, which i don’t do often and watched an odd commercial – it was Manhattan Mercedes-Benz’s advertisement for – get this – their ‘Limited Mid-Winter Sales Event’. Ending on February 2nd, 2007 and complete with snow and Christmas music it felt oddly out of place with the recent weather of rain and, yes, seventy-degree weather.

Wonderful. Simply Beautiful.

Anyway, I found this blast from the past very humorous. I guess somebody at the History Channel put in the wrong tape…

By the Numbers: Ditch plastic grcocery bags

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

“If we in government truly want to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil, reduce the consumption of our natural resources, reduce landfill waste, reduce the amount of litter on our streets, and reduce the amount of damage done to our wildlife and environment, then New York State should kiss goodbye harmful check-out plastic grocery bags,” said Assemblyman Colton.
- Brooklyn Daily Eagle

He also pointed to the need to reduce the country’s oil consumption, since it takes about 430,000 gallons to produce 100 million plastic bags.
- NewsDay.com

By The Numbers…

  • Typical Number of Bags used per week: 12
  • 12 * 52 weeks = 624/year
  • 624 bags * 8million NYC City Residents (as of 2000) = 4,997,165,472 – yes that’s almost 5 billion!
  • 4,997,165,472 bags (divided by) 100 Million bags (amount that uses 430,000 gallons of oil to produce) = 50 per 100 Million bags (rounded)
  • 50 * 430,000 = 21,500,000 gallons of oil used to give only New York City their supply of plastic bags

Disclaimer:

As pointed out to me by one of my brothers, the gallons of oil, itself, is used for many multiple purposes – thus the oil has parts of it that are used for multiple different manufacturing purposes.

From the YouTube writeupproduced for the WB by the writers of Scrubs and Family Guy. it’s very funny, very different, and deserves to be seen by all.

Enjoy.

Friday Night – make that Tuesday Night Movie Night

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

OK, folks. Our *being* inundated by the flu bug this past weekend and wreaked havoc on our internal mainframes. To make up for our missed flick on Friday Night, here’s a video mentioned by a bogopolis.com user in an earlier post:

Full Disclosure: I once nearly fainted at my mother’s second wedding and I promise not to faint at two of friends’ weddings this summer: Matt and Kristin and Jeremy and Chelsea: I’ll do my best to make it a memorable day for you all…

God Help Us…

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Seriously, God, please.

I don’t comment often on current, ‘straight’, events but this article really bothered me.

Cnn.com – …Anna Nicole’s daughter’s Father: “I told you so!”
story.birkhead.ap God Help Us…(cnn.com)

This article and photo makes me sick. There is nothing prideful about being right in this paternity test -nothing – absolutely nothing.

This is a child whose life was paraded in front of the cameras and was given absolutely no respect by the media and the ‘would-be’ fathers. To put your child’s life in that glaring of a spotlight is awful…

… and then to act like it was contest.

shameful.
