Ughhh… Cleaning.

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

I cannot remember the last time I’ve done as much cleaning as I’ve done today. I’ve been slowly getting ready for a roommate this summer – I knew I was going to have clean, but I didn’t realize how much cleaning there was to do – and it’s finally culminated to the final rundown: the complete, swiffer-tested, cleandown. (Or how much work is involved. I miss my parents…)

Man, I hate cleaning… – but it’s always a good thing to have a clean house.

Bachelor or not.

Movie Night: Close to Home

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Hey friends. Many of you from Indiana or anywhere outside NYC have wondered for almost two years now, what it is exactly that I came out here to do in New York City – well let me show you:

The video is almost a year old, and things have changed a lot since then (I’ve lost some weight for example… Ok, it’s all about me…). Forefront is an awesome church I’m proud to be a part of out here, albeit in a small way. I do enjoy waking up on Sunday mornings and volunteering in anyway possible to help the church out.

Cheers.

Bogopolis.com :: Our 200th

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Well, we did it. Bogopolis.com made it – we’ve gone where few bloggers have gone before – we’ve achieved 200 posts. Sure, it took us some time, OK so maybe four years is longer than ‘some time’, but we made it and we’re going strong!

Bogopolis.com has seen many iterations including, the awkward high school years, the crazy college days, and of course now the unknown early adulthood years living in the ‘Greatest City on Earth’. (Of course, let’s not forget the empty, voiceless era…)

You, see, there have been multiple versions of the website already, five in fact with another the way.

You guys have been awesome – I write for you. I enjoy the comments and want to make Bogopolis.com a community of those who appreciate randomness.

Here’s to the next 200 and the 200 after that…

New York City-isms

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

The Courtesy Scoot
Occurs when one’s train arrives in the station allowing others behind said person to get in line for a spot on the always crowded train.

The Courtesy Step-Back
Action taken when arriving train is not one’s chosen train. This action allows others behind said person to step forward and enter their arrived train without conflict.

Not following these unspoken rules of engagement in New York City could result in missed trains, pushed shoulders, and/or personal space violations.

Weekend Movie Break: 2 For 1 Deal – UPDATED

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Somebody, please tell me how society will allow the CEO of the current largest computer-based company to act like a fool and push millions upon millions to the company and we don’t allow the same behavior from a very enthused presidential candidate?

Please someone, help me on this one…

Wow Wii

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

I was partying at a friend’s place on Thursday and i had the fortunate pleasure to play on a Nintendo Wii. When I first about the Nintendo Wii I thought how silly of an idea it was – but – in actual practice it has to be the most innovative gaming system in many years.

The graphics may be not be as impressive as the xBox or other gaming systems, but the ability to actually participate in the game through the handy dandy hand control is awesome!

Although I had problems with the tennis game, the bowling game was wholly realistic. After playing two full games of bowling and going through the emotions – minus the ball – I was thoroughly as sore as I usually am after bowling. Impressive.

So, in case people are looking for any last minute birthday gift ideas – this would be a sure bet.

Bogopolis PSA :: Make it a fruity day for your mom

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Well, in case you haven’t realized it, mother’s day is only three day with 2-3 flower delivery days left.

In case you haven’t figured out that perfect gift for mom: Fruit Flowers.

That’s right: bouquets that look like fruit, made out of fruit – unbelievable.

I’m not going to say that I got my mom these, but let’s just say that my mom does like strawberries and assorted melons during the hot, summer days.

Be sure check out the fruitiness before you miss out!

Thanks to Nick for the heads upon this one.

Where’s the Wheat?

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

One thing, I won’t get about grocery stores is the lack of ‘Wheat Chex’ – the cereal – in grocery store aisles…

First in Inidana, but in New York??

Unspeakable

If none of this makes sense, perhaps it would if you knew I was making my infamous ‘mix’. The ‘mix’ is my secret concoction of chex mix and other things to make the perfect snack food.

Maybe one of these days you’ll get to try it. – you never know…

Update – I found what I looking for today (in the fourth grocery store of the past two days), although it’s not true wheat chex – oh well…

Our ‘Baggage’

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

In a followup to our previous story on a plastic bag ban, out of England comes news of a town near London that has banned plastic bags successfully and replaced them with paper sacks and cloth carrier bags.

I place this story on Bogopolis.com because of this quote from the story:

The Worldwatch Institute, an environmental research agency, estimates that 100 billion plastic bags are discarded each year in the United States alone. More than 500 billion are used annually around the world. (My inserted emphasis)

You get that? 100 billion plastic bags per year? I think that these numbers are enough for anybody to think twice… I know it is for me.

As I said before, this is something we can come together on, as a global community, and make our environment a better one for those who will inherit it from us.

This is truly something that begins with us.

The question should not be ‘Is it a problem and does it affect me?’ but it should be ‘What do I do about this – How do I make a difference?’

What do we do indeed… And how do we do it?
